Review- L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Foundation

After taking a break from blogging for a few months, I finally decided to jump back in the business. For this post, I've picked L'oreal's much loved True match foundation. Read on for a full review.

L'oreal true match foundation in W2

My Experience:
L'Oreal's true match foundation is unknown to none. It's probably the most famous foundation L'oreal has ever introduced. The one I have here is the U.S version which comes in a small glass bottle without a pump(boo). The U.K version (also available in Pakistan) comes in a comparatively big bottle and has a pump attached. Having tried both the versions, I felt that the two have slight differences in texture and consistency.
Starting off with the shade, I got myself the shade W2 thinking that it would suit my NC20 skin-tone since it was placed under the warm undertone category. However it turned out really light. It's a completely pale shade with no hints of yellow. Not a match for my skin but when I blend it out with fingers, it tends to adapt to my skin a little but this, in no way, is the answer to the mismatch. I'm probably gonna get myself W4 in near future in a hope to find a match for my skin by mixing the two shades.
As I said, the U.S version (mentioned above) of this foundation is different from the U.K version. This one is slightly more runny in consistency and feels a lot lighter on skin. Other than that, it also has a very smooth texture specially when you blend it in with your fingers. I've noticed that when applied lightly, it pretty much imitates the skin. That's particularly what I love about this foundation. My face doesn't look cakey even if I wear it in layers and my skin can actually breath. This feature was absent in the U.K version of this foundation.
The coverage it delivers is light to medium depending on the method of application. For daily use, I prefer applying it with my fingers as I get a natural finish this way. When I want to go a little heavy on the coverage, I like to use a blending brush, real techniques' expert face brush particularly.
I'd say you get a satin finish with this foundation. It's not completely matte but not dewy either. Girls with oily skin like me will definitely need to set it with powder. The staying power is also pretty impressive. On average, It stays on my face for around 7-8 hours. However this time period is expected to shorten during summer when my skin gets super oily.
Overall I love this foundation. It successfully made it to my best foundations list because of the reasons mentioned above. Until I find a better foundation for daily use, I'm going to keep repurchasing it.The best part is that you have 33 shades to choose from so they're serious when they say "true match" here.
Have you guys tried this foundation? What do you think about it?

Review- Color Studio Matt Perfection Cream Foundation

Color Studio's Matt Perfection foundation promises to cover imperfections leaving a natural matte finish. With the weather leaning towards the unpleasent-hot side, everyone including me is switching to products with a matte finish and light texture.  Lets see if this foundation lives up to it's claims.

My Experience:

Color Studio's Matt Perfection foundation is a light weight cream foundation with a nice and smooth texture. At the very first glance this had a spongy mousse kind of appearance but right after I swatched it, the creamier side of the product appeared. It comes in a sleek black case, exactly same as the invincible powder compact. Since the two are from the high performance makeup range, they share the same packaging.

Ivory is a medium shade with yellow undertones. It looks pretty orange inside the pan, but upon application it turns lighter. Ivory is perfect for NC25-30 skin tones.

As much as I love cream foundations because of their coverage, I do get annoyed by the fact they feel too heavy on skin and in summers, creams are a big No for me. Surprisingly, this foundation was a lot different from all of the cream compacts I've tried so far.
The texture is actually very light and applies sheer on a single application. The swatch above is a result of 2-3 swipes. This was basically what I loved about this particular foundation. It feels extremely light on skin without appearing cakey. So my skin is actually able to breathe underneath and I don't have to worry about clogging of pores.
It gives a complete matte finish, with a smooth overall appearance. Those with dry skin, will have to give their skin a fair amount of moisture before application as it can pretty much enhance dry patches on your skin.
As for me, I like to apply it with a wet sponge (the same that comes with the packing). It helps me with an even application and gives a more natural finish.I make sure I don't use it in patting motions on areas where I have big pores as it can accumulate inside the them which doesn't look nice. I'd suggest using swiping motions for a better result.
You get a light coverage with this foundation which can be built up to fairly medium one but I wont suggest doing that. I use a spot-on concealer on my acne scars and under eyes with it If I want a better coverage.
It leaves my skin matte for about 4-5 hours depending on whether I set it with a powder or not. On normal days, when not much exertion is expected, I can easily wear it off alone and remain carefree for the day. Otherwise I do make sure I set it with a powder to increase it's staying power.

End Note: This is an amazing cream foundation for day to day use during summer regardless of the skin type. It's light weight, non cakey and makes your skin stay matte for a good amount of time. However a moisturiser is essential before application. Those who like a little more coverage, will need to pair it up with a good concealer to hide imperfections.

Review- Color Studio Invincible Water and Heat Proof Powder Compact

Hello you guys!! Okay I know I've been away for a while because of some camera issues but it was getting a little too long so today, I just decided to put everything aside and bring in a review for you all.

So this is a newly launched product by Color Studio Pro, The Invincible powder compact.

My Experience:

Judging by the name, the target audience for this powder compact are all the oilies like me. They've used very convincing name and description for the product I must say, it does grab attention for someone like me whose always afraid of a greasy face.

The shade I have is beige, It should be perfect for medium skin tones. But the color of the powder is not very dominant. there is a tint, but it's not overpowering unless you're packing on a way darker color.
It comes in a simple black compact and you get a nice and soft puff inside. I like that there's a mirror in there as well.

Even though spring is almost here, it's still a little cold in my city. But nonetheless I've used it for over a week now. At Color Studio's facebook page, I read they've mentioned the right way to apply a powder. It's by taking the powder on the puff, and applying it by rolling and pressing the puff on to your skin. You'll be surprised to see how minimized your pores appear. Try it right now with your powder and you'll see.
Anyway I apply this powder in the same way and it makes my skin look really smooth. It provides a nice silky finish without looking cakey because the texture is very light and the powder is actually very fine.
But I do warn you if you have dry patches on your skin, it's clearly going to accentuate them so if you have a combination or normal skin make sure you moisturise your face before applying this or use a liquid foundation underneath that doesn't absorb oil from your face.

The oil controlling power, uptil now is quite good. I say this because it's not too hot over here, but still my skin produces a fair amount of oil during the day and the powder is able to control that pretty well for about 3-5 hours. It's actually not before april when my sebaceous glands get crazy. Trust me when I say crazy! right now my skin is exhibiting the combination type mode, so for that it has been working really well .
It's not transfer resistant so it might stain your clothing items scarves, dupattas etc.
I wouldn't say its an "all day" waterproof powder but it is quite strong against my skin's oil, better then my revlon vital radiance powder.

As for the coverage,I do have a lot of acne scars on my face and it doesn't really cover them. So it's not something that I'd use to add on coverage to my face. I use it purely for mattifying and oil controlling purposes

It is on a little pricier side from the color studio range. but I'm stil waiting for summers to give it a hard test and see if the price is justified. For now it's quite efficient in controlling the normal amount of oil from my face while I'm in university so I do really like it, specially because of how light it feels on my skin.

Today I'm reviewing Skin79's Prestige BB cream. The reason I was very excited to try it out was because Skin79 has been on top for manufacturing BB creams ever since they gained popularity. Read on to find out what I think about it.

My Experience:
The past month has been a true BB cream test drive for me. I had a few brands in my stash that I wanted to talk about and this one was on top of the list obviously because of the fame it has received.

Starting with the appearance, it does receive my admiration and you can tell why. It comes in a bright pink packaging,a fairly long bottle and a silver pump on top. The pump is very convenient and squirts out a very small amount with a single pump if you keep your hand light.

The prestige BB cream claims to have the usual benefits that you expect from a bb cream.Wrinkle Improvement, whitening and sun protection. But the ingredients are quite unique. In addition to
Peptide MX Complex,Caviar Extract,Coenzyme,Aloe Vera,Arbutin, Adenosine, Titanium Oxide, Adenosine and Arbutin, It contains Diamond, Ruby, Pearl, Gold, Amethyst which tells us where it gets it's name from.
These ingredients are not something you'd find in just any BB cream out there. According to the brand they are there to provide lustre and shine to your face.

On to the shade, this was the part which let me down. This BB cream has the usual grey tone and thus too light for me. I so wish they come up with a BB cream with yellow undertones for darker tones. I mean who doesn't want a foundation that actually helps your skin? . The grey tones show up on my face if I layer it up more than 2 times which bothers me. To solve this problem I've put my foundations, that were darker, to use.
I just mix them up and it does the job, however I usually do this when I want a better coverage. For a sheer coverage  this BB cream alone is enough for me.
It provides a dewy finish and doesn't look cakey at all. The consistency is runny If I compare it to my Lioele Triple the soultion BB cream so it feels extremely light on face.
The best part, for me,was the staying power of this BB cream. It stays all day and I felt it's kind of waterproof since it's there even if I wash my face with water. So I don't have to re-apply it.

As for the benefits that have been mentioned, I don't have wrinkles so I can't comment on that but it definitely makes my skin feel very soft and smooth. I did not face any breakouts with this BB cream which was expected because of the light formula. It has SPF 25 which is a little lighter, so you'll have to wear a higher SPF underneath for a better protection.

Overall this is a pretty nice BB cream and I can see why it has gained so much popularity. My only complaint would have to be the shade which is not suitable for darker skintones.

Where To Buy: Korea Depart
Price: $40.99

Review- Illamsaqua Rich Liquid Foundation

They're serious when they say "Rich"! Here's my review on Illamasqua's Rich Liquid Foundation

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation in 200

My Experience:
Mac's Studio Fix Fluid was the best foundation I had ever tried in terms on coverage and finish. I pretty much stopped building hopes for a result that amazing from all of the foundations I purchased ever since. It was this summer when I got my hands on the Rich liquid foundation by Illamasqua after reading so many reviews regarding it's coverage.

I always end up buying the wrong shades( usually darker) of foundations and concealers whenever it comes to online shade selection. But I'm so glad this one was a hit for me. I got the shade RF200 which the site describes as "for medium with neutral undertones". Well it definitely doesn't have neutral undertones. Infact it leans more towards yellow. That's exactly what I wanted. I was afraid I'l again end up with a pink toned foundation but thank God nothing of that sort happened. So RF200 is a yellow toned shade for light-medium skin tones probably NC20-NC25. However I noticed that at the end of the day it did oxidise on my face a little and kind of turned darker.

The consistency of this foundation is thick, almost gel like. Some people describe it close to Mac's studio sculpt foundation but since I have'nt tried that, I cant say anything. But one thing I can say for sure is that this foundation is loaded with color. I mean seriously, in the swatch above, I literally put half of a pea sized amount and look how much it spread. You need tiniest amount to cover up your whole face. This is what I call a true Full coverage foundation. Since it's thick, you have to work fast while application or it dries out. The best way that I found to apply it is using just your fingers. The color spreads more evenly and little goes a long way.
The coverage is heavy enough for me to use under my eyes as a concealer and as the shade has yellow undertones, it instantly brightens up my eye area.

You get matte finish with this foundation so if you've got dry skin you'll need to moisturise your skin completely before applying it. I have combination skin but still I moisturise, not only before this one, but all the foundations that I use regardless of the finish.
The lasting power is super impressive too. Equally as good as Revlon's colorstay. It lasts on my face all day without running down or looking patchy. Since the consistency is thick, it kindof sticks on my skin.

As I said you need a very little amount for your face. However if you wish to turn the coverage down a little, you can always mix in your moisturiser.
I personally prefer using a full coverage foundation and lowering the coverage than using a light-medium coverage foundation and layering it up for fuller coverage. Trust me you'll hardly be able to get a full coverage with a natural finish and end up looking really cakey.

End Note: For now, this is my holy grail foundation. Love the coverage, finish and lasting power. On it's own ,this is not your everyday foundation however you can mix it with your moisturiser and include it in your daily foundation routine. I have to say it is on the pricier side but for me it's worth it.

Where to buy: Pakistanis can buy it from Beauty Unleashed. They have other amazing brands as well. Or you can always shop from Illamasqua's website.
Price: $34.13 or £21.50

Review- Revlon Colorstay Foundation

Here it is!. The most popular and loved drugstore foundation, Revlon Colorstay. How could I not try something that's been compared to Mac's studio Fix fluid? Is it really a cheaper dupe? Scroll down to read how it turned out for me.

My Experience:
Even though I knew long before that it comes in two types, Normal to dry and Combination to oily, I still didn't pay head to it while I was buying it.Finding colorstay at my drugstore was really something exciting and since it was the last piece left with them, I didn't care about the shade that much either and quickly bought it off.
I got the shade Sand Beige and the name sounded like it would be more towards dark tone since most of the time, companies tag the darker shades with names such as "sand" or "beige". But surprisingly its not at all dark. Even though it looks dull inside the bottle (which basically deceived me) but the color is pretty pale and ashy. I was hoping for some yellow tones but no,you get pure pink undertones here (even though the swatch looks a bit yellow, but it's pretty pale in reality.Darn the sunlight) . So to make the shade wearable I mix it with some of my yellow toned foundations. Mostly I choose between Luscious HD mineral (since it has perfect yellow) or L'Oreal True match. Both of them work fine and I get a shade that's pretty close to my own skin. But since this is not the solution for me, I'm going to get another bottle of Revlon colorstay thats one or two shades lighter than my skin to perfectly match up. I hope the sales guy re-stocks it soon.

The bottle doesn't have any pump which is a major con because you have more chances of wasting the liquid. I don't know why they didn't include the pump but it would have been much better.I hate slowly tilting the bottle waiting for a small amount of product to come out at my hand and then swirling the top to fold back the amount that I don't need. It creates such a mess. But I've seen people being fine with no pump as well so maybe it's just me. You can get past to it if you don't care about how you're going to get the product out of the bottle.

The two main reasons that make me stick to this foundation are it's lasting power and coverage.
I LOVE how long this foundation holds up on my skin. I applied it around 12 in the morning and it was still there by 8 p.m. For the coverage,It can give you medium to full.I use a stippling brush with this foundation to achieve an even and better application. It's consistency is quite rich and creamy and moisturising so it's not something you can wear everyday .However if you want to lighten up the coverage and make it wearable for daily usage, you could mix it up with your moisturiser. It leaves my skin with a dewy finish which doesn't look too oily or gooey. If I'm to travel or stay out for longer, this is the foundation that I rely on. I can be pretty much carefree about it, disappearing from,or running down my face. So a big thumbs up for staying power and coverage. It also comes with SPF 15 which is again a pro, but not good if you're photos are going to be taken in flash.

As for the main question, can we call it a dupe for mac's studio fix fluid? We'll technically, I'd have to say No. It's not a dupe for mac. Even though I saw many bloggers saying they're pretty close but I just can't find the coverage and finish that I get from SSF in this foundation. SSF is more thick and the coverage is just flawless. You do not get medium coverage with it,you only get full coverage which you don't need to build up at all. It gives you a smooth finish and feels a bit thick. As for Colorstay, it's not as thick. The coverage is not as rich as SSF,however it's pretty good on it's own. If you can get mac's studio fix fluid then I'd just say to go ahead and get it,no need to invest in this foundation, but if you're on a budget and SSF is a little heavy on your pocket, then this can be good substitute but don't expect the same result as that of mac.

End Note:  By far, this is my favourite drugstore foundation. It's coverage and lasting powers is excellent and is moisturising so those with dry skin will like it. This is not one of your everyday foundation since it's consistency is thick, you're face can look heavy if you're using it on daily basis It can be disappointing for those with yellow undertones since the shades are gonna either look too dark or too ashy on them. Revlon should think of coming up with more shades for Asian tones since this is such a popular foundation.
Other then that, this is the foundation that I'm gonna keep re-purchasing. I strongly recommend buying the shade that's much closer to your skin tone since the color of the foundation shows up a little opaque on your face and you have chances of looking too made up specially if you're building it up for better coverage.

Where to Buy: Your Local drugstore.Pakistanis can buy it from facebook pages that order international brands such as Wishlist, Lush grooming Bargains or International Makeup in Pakistan

Review- No.7 Intelligent Balance Liquid Foundation

I found a foundation in my local drug store that's not easily found here. It's the No.7 intelligent balance foundation. I quickly decided to give it a try.

Boots No7 Intelligent Balance Find your natural balance with this oil free moisturising and mattifying foundation for a flawless finish that helps prevent shine breakthrough for upto 12 hours.

My Experience:

The sales person only had three of the four shades that come in this range. With Ivory being too light and walnut too dark, I reached for almond which somewhat seemed a better match for my skin.

Even though it looks light in the bottle, almond was one shade darker for me. But surprisingly it blended in with my skin tone very well (the reason why it's called intelligent balance I suppose?). So I have no issues with the shade since it eventually settles down to my original color.

The consistency of this foundation is very runny. Kind of like Rimmel's stay matte but it's texture is richer then that of stay matte and still feels very light on skin. This means that you get more coverage with it. It gives light to medium coverage and usually I put two layers to achieve a medium coverage during my bad skin days when I have zits on my face otherwise one layer is enough for a nice sheer coverage.

The main reason why I prefer this one over my other light to medium coverage foundations is the finish. It makes my skin so smooth and doesn't look cakey at all. It's very moisturising but neither does it leaves my face shining like a grease ball, nor mattify it. In fact my skin retains it's natural glow and actually look like my own skin and not a caked mask. So it's good for both, summers and winters. Also it comes with an SPF 12 which is an additional feature but I don't rely on this since I have to apply stronger SPF because of the weather.

The staying power of this foundation is average like most of the drug store foundations. It claims to control shine for 12 hours but didn't work for me for that long. It stayed on my face for around 5-6 hours. I use my fingers to blend it since it dries out quick and I achieve a more natural look that way

End Note: Being drug store, Boots No.7 Intelligent Balance Foundation provides an extremely nice finish. It's moisturising and looks non cakey even after 2 layers. It has a very narrow range of colors so not everyone gets their exact match but since it adjusts nicely on skin so one can go with one shade darker or lighter. Those who like a total matte finish might not like this foundation.

Where to Buy:  Drugstore or Target. The liquid version has been discontinued and it's now available in mousse form.
Price: I bough it for 1175 Pkr

Review- Luminess Air Brush System

Doing Makeup has never been so fun! Today i bring you guys the product that's quite raved about on the internet. It's the award winning Luminess Air Brush System. They sent this to me for review a few days back and I used it alot during the past couple of weeks to give you guys a detailed review.

My Experience:
It's the first time I'm using any Air brush system. To be very honest before i got it i was a bit skeptical about it. I take my foundation application very seriously and i'm not ashamed to say I'm not blessed with a flawless skin. So it was about switching my usual Finger/blender routine with an air brush gun. Sounds exciting no?
I'll first go with an introduction of the whole system that you see in the pictures above. Basically It comes in  a small box with the Whole system inside along with a CD and a manual for you to get an idea on how to get started.
Did you notice something? Its PINK!!! How did they know i love pink?It looks super pretty. Even if I'm not using it I LOVE to place it on my dressing table. More over their Butterfly trademark is so feminine.
The system is not the only  thing you get.The give you a set of four foundations to mix and match colors, bronzer, highlighter, blush and a primer.
That's not it! You also get a beautiful snake skinned clutch to move around the system with you without any trouble. It has compartments designed specially to keep the system and stylus in place. It's so beautiful that I love to have it in my bag anyway.
Now to the review.
The system is not a pain to operate. It's just very simple and one button gets it started. Its not too heavy either. The stylus is very well designed. It has a controller/trigger on top with which you can control the pressure of the air flow so it actually gives you control over the coverage.
The foundations and other products they provide are very watery because they are supposed to be thrown out with air. But I'm amazed at the pigmentation. 2 drops of the bronzer were more than enough for my whole face and collar bones. same is the case with blush and all the foundations.
The blush is matte while the bronzer highlights my face beautifully. Have you guys seen the beautiful sheen on cheeks of most of the celebrities these days? That's what you get with the highlighter and bronzer they've provided.
How did the foundations work? Well I'm extremely Impressed. I wasn't hoping for a full coverage but when it succeeded to make my skin look flawless I had to change my opinions for air brush system.
All the foundations require 2 drops for Light and approximately 4-5 drops for complete coverage of the whole face.
You have to be a bit careful when you start it because if you happen to pull back the trigger too much or keep the stylus close to your face,it can accumulate at one place and then flow down.It did happen to me the first time i used it.
Since you can control the amount of foundation the nozzle sends on your face you can cover the areas e.g scars or redness when you get close to them so each part of your face receives coverage it needs. Not more, nor less.
The thing i like the most about this system is that i don't have to worry about flaking, visible pores or powdery look. It actually goes with the name "air brush" because it provides complete air brush complexion You can never look fake while using it unless you handle it the wrong way.My pores are somewhat hidden and so are my acne scars
Once the foundations is transferred on your face it DOESN'T get out of place.Tell you what i have used this system a hell lot before posting this review.I tried it in every situation so that i can bring out every detail about it. Obviously my concern was about the foundation getting transferred since it's liquid and we don't even blend it.It gave an impression as if it would just stay on top of my face and get transferred with the slightest contact but NO! it sticks to your face once it's dried and stays on for a lot longer than a liquid or powder foundation. The foundations are specially designed for that.
The one thing that doesn't work for me is that it can't hide the redness on corners of my nose properly.Because they are curved it usually doesn't reach the area under it.
The usual foundations cant work with the gun because they are thick in consistency however i tried diluting the my Rimmel stay matte foundation in rose water but it didn't give the results as good as the foundations that came with the system. Even though the bottles look small they last a long time since you only need 3-4 drops.I usually use 3 drops for my daily usage.

Where to Buy: Luminess Air Website

I think Luminess Air is an amazing invention in the world of makeup application. I actually enjoy using it instead of just putting in my face for the desired results. It has potential to provide flawless look that can be be a bit difficult to achieve using  conventional makeup tools.Once you get a hold over it's usage,it can save your time as well.

How many of you guys have used Air brush system? What do you think about it?

Review- Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint

Many of you would have heard about the first addition to Liz Earle color,The Sheer Skin Tint.I'll be sharing my views on this product new today.

My Experience:
I was really excited about Liz Earle launching it's own makeup line. This is the first product they have introduced in Liz Earle color range.
I used to wear foundation everyday to hide my blemishes and scars but slowly I got addicted to it's application. But since I've done enough damage to my skin in the past now I make sure I let my skin breath so nowadays I hunt for tinted moisturizers a lot.
This moisturizer succeeded to satisfy me unlike my other tinted moisturizers. First the texture is really nice and creamy and blends within seconds.I like that it actually contains the "Tint". It gives a dewy finish which makes your complexion look glowy.I think it'll work better in winters because of my oily T-zone.It moisturizes quite well too.I can't wait to wear it during winters since i love how soft it leaves my skin
I love the fact that it has SPF15,and is enriched with vitamin E, borage and avocado. There isn't anything better than having natural ingredients in your makeup.
The only thing that kind of let me down was that it has a strange smell.I'm not a fan of it.
I wear a powder on top of it to control the shine because it has starting getting hot again.
Since it's just a tinted moisturizer you can't expect it to cover all your imperfections perfectly but it does a good job in making them less prominent.
My acne scars are visible under it but i'm okay with that as i know that it's doing good to my skin along with making it look better.
