Review+Swatches- Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

It's not a lipstick, it's not a lipgloss. It's something you'd call "In between". Rimmel Apocalips have gained a lot of attention ever since they were released. Read on to find out what I think about them.
Rimmel Apocalips in Nova (Top)
and Luna (Bottom)

Rimmel Apocalips In Nova

Rimmel Apocalips in Luna

Left: Luna
Right: Nova

My Experience:

The moment I saw the label "lip lacquers", I knew they were something to look out for. Rimmel Apocalips come in 8 different shades and I feel that the collection leans more towards pinks. I've got Luna and Nova.
Luna is a beautiful peachy nude shade and as much as I loved it at first sight (I'm a sucker for peaches/nudes), it was not the right kind of nude peach for my skintone (for the record, I'm NC25). It will, however, look gorgeous on lighter skins. I usually wear it over a darker lipstick just so that it tones down a little and I don't look too washed out. Nova is a bright pink that looks kind of fuchsia on my lips. This will suit most of the skin tones.

The texture of these lip lacquers is very creamy and glides on smoothly across my lips. It also keeps lips moisturized as long as it stays on. Now I see why it's being loved by so many girls out there, the pigmentation is amazing. It's really rich and opaque and you get a good amount of color just by a single stroke of the brush.
Since the product is a hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss, the staying power is somewhat in between too. It's much better then lipgloss, but not like a lipstick. But for a liquidy lip product, it lingers on well. I have a really bad lip biting/eating habit so I've to be extra careful with these on. Out of both, Nova (being a darker color) holds on better on my lips and leaves a tint behind as well.
The applicator comes with a small "dent", so when you take it out of the tube, it has enough amount of product accumulated in there to cover your lips so you don't have to dip the applicator back and forth.

Like most of Rimmel's lip products, these come with a scent too. To me, they smell exactly like their Color show off and kate moss matte lipsticks. It's a citrusy cherry kind of scent and I personally really like it.

I think these lip lacquers are definitely worth a try because of the texture and pigmentation. The color payoff is amazing and it's perfect for both day and night depending on the color you choose.

    Desire
Desire

    Acapulco
Acapulco

My Experience:
I'm kind of sinking into the lipstick phase where I want to try and wear different colors. But I do not usually opt for bright and bold colors. Seeing the shade range of color rush lipsticks, I felt that they would very well suit Asian skintones and I was so right. All four of them have the perfect undertones for my skin.

The first shade, Tease me, is a pink color with peachy undertones. Then there's Rush which is a coral orange color and one of my favourites since I'm a huge fan of coral/orange colors. Desire is a nude color with hints of pink. It's the perfect nude for my skin since it doesn't make me look dull or dark. And the last one is Acapulco which is dark nude-ish brown.
I'm in love with all four of these. But if I had to pick favourites then Desire and Rush would have to be on top. They're more of my everyday colors while Tease me and Acapulco are for days when I want my lips to stand out.

The formula is creamy enough to keep your lips moisturised but do not look too glazey.I like that. The best thing about these lipsticks is that you get the exact color on your lips as you see on the bullet. Having tried NYX I was always afraid that the color might look paler on my lips. But nothing like that happened when I put these on. The are very opaque and stay on lips for a decent amount of time.

End Note: The Color rush lipstick range is totally worth a try. I love the shades and the whole range will suit most of the Asian skintones. The formula is perfect for everyday use since its not too shiny or glossy but still it's quite moisturising.

Review- Holika Holika Berry Jelly Tint-Korea Depart

Jelly tint? How interesting! Scroll down to read my thoughts about this cute tint from Holika Holika.
Holika Holika Holy Berry Jelly Tint
Holika Holika Holy Berry Jelly Tint is a gel type lip tint; it provides a glossy finish and stains all at once. Vitamin derivatives and vegetable ingredients soften and moisturize, plus helps retain it. Collagen property increases synthesis of glycosaminoglycan, creating more plump and bouncy lips by increasing blood circulation. Tingles with a fresh cooling sensation from menthol ingredients. Create beautiful soft berry colored lips with this tint.

My Experience:
You can never beat Korean cosmetics when it comes to naming and packaging of a product. They are just adorable. The name "Jelly" and the bright orange shade was what attracted me to this one.

The shade I have is "peach berry" which got me a little confused since the tube was orange but when I swatched it on my hand it came out extremely sheer, more like a very light peachy shade. That's why they included the name peach. The tint is very sheer and the color doesn't show until you layer it up( obviously because it's a tint).
I found the applicator of this tint to be quite unique. It's not your regular brush or sponge applicator but rather a very small and flexible spatula. This my first lip product with this kind of applicator. But amazingly it doesn't effect the application. It's as easy as the regular applicators.

The fun part for me was definitely it's scent and taste. It tastes exactly like mint and smells like it too. I so love it!. Not only that it also leaves a very cooling sensation on my lips which lingers on for a good amount of time. I'm obsessed with the mint taste and I just can't help eating it unconsciously which is pretty weird.

As far as the name jelly is concerned, It definitely doesn't have the texture of a jelly but it's very soft and smooth. They say it has fibroblast collagen which is supposed to increase the synthesis of glycosaminoglycan to make you lips appear fuller. I do feel my lips look more pouty but they do not increase in size. It's because of the high amount of gloss I think.

I also like the fact that it's fairly inexpensive. So your budget won't shake while trying this out.

End Note: Love this tiny tube! I have to admit I usually put this tint on just for the menthol flavour and the cooling effect on lips.

Where to Buy: Korea Depart. HUGE selection of Korean products and BB creams which are as low as $4. I was lost while picking up products.

Price: $4.45

Review- Urban Decay Lip Love Therapy

Since my lips remain chapped throughout the year regardless of the weather, anything that says "therapy" or "conditioning" attracts me. Urban decay's Lip Love therapy promises nourishment with a hint of tint.
Urban Decay Lip Love Therapy
If you’re looking for a product that will make your lips kissably soft while also feeling and tasting great, trust us when we say that this stuff is a whole lot of “ahhhhhhhhh yeah” in a tube. The smooooooooth feel and enticing honey flavor will inspire addiction in both you and your makeout partner, but that’s okay -- it’s good for you, so feel free to apply it liberally and often. Its healing powers come courtesy of a few ingredients that are rejuvenating heavy hitters. Antioxidant Vitamin C boosts collagen and evens out skin tone. Millet, Jojoba and Apricot Kernel Seed Oils work together as a powerful lip-healing trifecta to moisturize, replenish and promote cell turnover. Our squeeze tube features a soft, wide-angled tip that applies color smoothly!

Urban Decay Love Lip Therapy-Lolita

Urban Decay Love Lip Therapy-Lolita

My Experience:
It's the first lip product that I've tried containing so many healthy ingredients.Honey,Vitamin C, Millet, jojoba, Apricot kernel seed oils, All of this sounds amazing doesn't it?

Okay so this gloss is quite thick, but not at all sticky. It applies well all over the lips and makes them  feel extremely smooth. It's not heavy on my lips either which came as a surprise since most of the thick glosses tend to feel heavy. Since honey is the main ingredient here, it definitely tastes and smells like it. It's very sweet but not at all over powering.

Lolita looks like a vibrant pink inside the tube, but on lips, it comes off very sheer. Since my lips are pretty pigmented, the color showed up very light so it's perfect for everyday use.I do use a lipbalm on daily basis but since it doesn't last long, I end up biting my lips because I cant stand those flakes coming off my lips.

I totally love the lasting power of this gloss. It's probably the longest wearing gloss I've ever tried. For the first 4 hours, it looks fresh as if I just applied it. After that the gloss starts to fade a little. So I'd say it lasts for 5-6 hours.

The packaging is cute. The golden urban decay cap really makes it pop and stand out. The tube is small but since a very little amount of product is needed, it's probably gonna last very long

End Note: I'd say it's going to be Loved by those who are looking for long lasting, heavily nourishing lip treatment. The hint of color makes it very wearable. This was definitely a big hit for me.  For those of you who are looking for an opaque color payoff, this might not be the best choice. Along with that, it may put some poeple off since it has a sweet scent and taste, particularly those who don't like honey.

Review- Sleek Pout Polish

A couple of months back I ordered a few items from just4girls.pk. Sleek's pout polish was one of them.

Sleek Pout Polish in Electro Peach

My Experience:
This season, I'm officially obsessed with tinted lipbalms.I cannot explain how dry and chapped my lips are throughout the year. Fascinated by the name "pout polish" I decided to give sleek's tinted lip conditioner a try.
This pout polish turned out exactly how I expected it to be. I had gone through numerous reviews before ordering the color and thankfully electro peach was my perfect shade. At first I was a little scared by seeing that dark reddish coral balm in the pot since I'm not at all a fan of red bold lips but upon application, it looked a very pretty light coral color.
Being a "tinted" balm it's color payoff is extremely good. I don't know for the lighter colors, but this one sure does show up on your lips with the very first application.

I have to say I do really like the packaging. It's nothing too special but the pot still attracts me alot. It's one of those products that I'd like to get the whole range of and keep them in my vanity just because they look nice.
The pot is much lighter than I was thinking it would be since it looked like a heavy glass pot on the internet. But it's quite light weight. Perfect to carry around. However I do have a problem here. It can be pretty unhygienic to dip your finger in the pot again and again. I try to apply it with a lip brush but when in rush, I have to put my finger in. Make sure your fingers are clean and NEVER let anyone else apply your balm with their finger.

The polish has an SPF 15 which is nice since none of my other balms have it. I has a warm vanilla-ish scent which is quite pleasing but not over powering.
Since the formula is very moisturising it's staying power is not good. I'm talking about the color here. But hey! Its a lipbalm, color is not our concern. As for the conditioning effect, I love it. It leaves my lips soft and keeps me away from biting them again and again. I'm for sure getting more colors but I've heard that MUA lip balms are great too and half the price so lets see whether I go for them or I end up buying the pout polish again.

End Note: Sleek's pout polish is my absolute favourite. I reach for it daily since I get moisture on my lips along with a nice tint. I'd totally recommend getting these.

Review- Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint

1000 Kisses lip tint range is new and particularly different addition to Rimmel's lip range. I'm going to talk about one of the stains in the shade "Carry On Cherry" .

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint
1000 Kisses Lip Tint gives your lips a royal flush of intense, vibrant colour that stays on duty and ready for action for hours - leaving no trace, so your kisses never tell.

The speedy two-step application delivers a fabulously flawless finish that is totally on trend and just begs to be kissed. A precision pen-tip delivers the mistake-free colour you're looking for and a caring balm seals the deal, giving lips the extra moisturising they've been waiting for.

There are 6 must-have shades in a translucent colour-matched design that gives you the freedom of being able to re-invent your look every day.

Without Balm

With Balm

My Experience:
Felt Tip Marker! That's what popped up in my mind when I first saw it. This sort of lip tint is definitely new for me.

Carry on cherry is a deep pinkish red cherry color. Seeing the color at first,I was pretty reluctant for packing my lips with it since I'm a total bare lips kind of person. But to my surprise,It showed up nice on me.
I first stained my lips heavily with the tint, just to check how opaque the color is. Yes,it was pretty  pigmented.I liked it,but since it was too dark for my taste,in the next trial I put it keeping a very light hand, smudging it all over the lips with my fingers. This produced the result I wanted. I was left with a very natural pinkish color all over my lips which looked very pretty.

If I were to explain it's texture, I'd simply say it's just like a marker. But this also means that it's quite drying as well. Here's where the lip balm at the other end comes in. Just apply it after the tint has dried out(which takes a fraction of seconds) to achieve a glossy finish.

Okay so here's the thing I like most about this tint,It's staying power. Once you apply it on your lips,it will stay in place for hours.Whether you eat or drink,it would hardly get transferred. Specially if you don't have the balm on.

The thing that I didn't like about this tint was that it's tip is small for applying all over your lips. It's more like a li pliner.and since it dries so quickly, you have to work with it quickly to get it applied evenly on your lips. Also it's a bit hard to get rid of too. I apply Vaseline to get it off my lips but an effort is still needed, If i'm removing within a short time span.

End Note: Being a lip tint,it's a pretty good product. Color pay off is nice and staying power is just amazing. Perfect for those who work but can't afford to refresh the color on lips again and again. The balm is a nice inclusion, but it's quantity is quite less.

Review- Luscious Hydrating Lip Primer

If you guys are following the Luscious cosmetics Facebook fanpage,Then by now, you would've read about their Signature Lipstick range that they are planning to launch soon. The interesting thing here is that they have, for the very first time in Pakistan, introduced a Lip primer in this range. This did catch my attention and I had an opportunity to try out the Lip primer.

My Experience:
This was my first ever encounter with a lip primer. Even though lip primers have been around since a while and are being offered by different international companies,I never really paid any heed to them because my makeup style is totally understated lips.Even sometimes bare. I normally prime my lips with a concealer if ever needed.

Starting with the packaging,It's totally different from their previous one. Now it's a plastic case with the shade of lipstick indicated by this round ball like thing. It actually reminds me of NYX black label lipstick. What you guys think?

In case any of you guys are wondering,a lip primer is something that's applied on bare lips before applying lipstick or gloss and it is supposed to help give a nice base for your lipstick to glide on and make it last longer without feathering or bleeding.

As for me,feathering or bleeding is not a problem since I never wear bold colors but yes, staying power is my major concern specially because I have weird habits of licking my lips and munching every second.

So I tested this with 2 products,1st with my rimmel vinyl max gloss which has a problem of feathering and accumulating in the lines of my lips and then with my NYX round lipstick which doesn't have a good staying power.

The bullet has no color and glides on smoothly. It's moisturising and makes my lips very smooth for the lipstick to be applied. I did like it with NYX round lipstick because it made it glide on more smoothly then it normally does and helped deliver the color  more quickly to some extent.
As with the vinyl gloss,It already is a very smooth textured gloss but what I wanted to test was the creasing of color. Normally after a while the dark pink color easily builds up in the lines of my lips, with this primer on,I would not say they completely vanished, but the amount somewhat decreased. Maybe if the texture of primer was more rich it would help it even more.
But It did help increase the life of both the products on my lips.

Over all my experience with this primer was very good keeping in mind that it's my first lip primer. It does provide a very nice base for your lip products to be applied and helps them stay in place.I'm waiting for the weather to change slightly and then I'll update you guys on how well it works in summers. But this is definitely a nice addition to Luscious cosmetics lip range. Its a good thing that they keep on experimenting and bring out new products every now and then.

This product will be launched soon so stay tuned :)

Do you guys use lip primer? Which one do you like?
Do let me know :)

Review- Luscious Moisture Lipsticks

I've been dying to review these two lipsticks which were sent to me by Luscious cosmetics a few days back.  Today's review features the Luscious Moisture Lipsticks.
L-Daisy Pink
R-Creamy Rose

Luscious Super Moisturizing Lipstick
Let’s face it. It’s all about Luscious Lips!
Our long-lasting formula enriched with Vitamin E and the super antioxidant Grape Seed Oil speaks for itself. It will never change color or dry out, keeping lips moisturised and happy. We’ve added extra color for great coverage. Try it to believe it!

My Experience:
I'm kinda stepping out of the gloss phase and nowadays I'm so in for lipsticks. These lipsticks by luscious cannot go unnoticed.
As described by the company they have vitamin E and grape seed oil which was catchy for me because right now even though  my lipstick collection is in infant stage, very few of the lipsticks I have mention these ingredients. As for the packaging it has plain silver case which is okay for me.I like it. The size is small and cute  making it travel friendly. But that doesn't mean the bullet size is small.
On to the colors, they have a good variety of shades in this range from corals to dark reds and most of the universally worn colors in between.
The shades I have are Daisy Pink and Creamy rose. They're both shades of pink with creamy rose being darker and very slightly to the mauve side than daisy rose. They are both completely matte.I personally have fallen in love with daisy pink. It is just the color of my lips and with one swipe it makes my lips look brighter. Its that one color that I wear on daily basis.Creamy rose is darker rosy pink and looks gorgeous with soft eyes.I would say its a winter color.
I like how soft and smooth they feel on my lips and glide on nicely too. Not only, that the color they deliver is quite rich and stays on for 2-3 hours.
What I'm happy about is that the bullets are not horribly fragile Unlike my NYX round lipsticks. So I'm not too worried about them breaking off inside my bag.
Over all these lipsticks are totally worth a try. The quality is really very good and it's also priced very reasonably. You won't regret buying them at all.

WHERE TO BUY: Luscious Cosmetics

How many of you guys have tried these lipsticks? What do you prefer for your lips?
